Myron Spector
Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Harvard Medical School

Dr. Spector is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery (Biomaterials) at Harvard Medical School and Senior Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also serves as Director of Tissue Engineering at the Veterans Administration Boston Healthcare System and Director of Orthopaedic Research at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Spector has over 30 years of experience working in the biomaterials field, and has directed his attention in recent years to the development of collagen-glycosaminoglycan scaffolds for tissue engineering. He is the author of over 200 papers in peer reviewed scientific journals and has been a member of the Editorial Board of 8 journals. Professor Spector has been the recipient of the highest research awards given by four prestigious organizations: The Orthopaedic Research Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Society for Biomaterials, and The Hip Society. He has been a Visiting Professor at several Universities throughout the world including a Guest Professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Dr. Spector has been the president of the Society for Biomaterials (1990-1991) and chairman of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration General and Plastic Surgery Devices Advisory Panel (Chairman, 1993-1997).

Samuel Wu
Principal Medical Doctor, SV Life Sciences

Dr Samuel Wu joined SV Life Sciences in 2002 and is focused on biotech and medical device investments. He is actively involved as a board observer at Alba Therapeutics, Archemix, Confluent Surgical, Mpex Pharmaceuticals and Sapphire (formerly Rejuvenon).

Prior to joining SVLS, Samuel was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey and Company's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Products practice, where he led teams of consultants serving clients on M&A, portfolio analysis and other strategic issues.

Samuel earned an MD and a PhD in Biochemistry from Stanford University and completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. He holds an AB in Biochemistry from Harvard College.
